We, as members of Sturgeon Valley Baptist Church, affirm that God called us to Himself. The Holy Spirit directed us to Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for our sins. We repented of our sins and personally received Jesus Christ into our lives. We gave witness to our faith in Him as we were baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Sprit. Because God chose us in Christ to be His people and to represent Him in our community, we sincerely and solemnly enter into coventant with God and one another.
We pledge herewith, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to be obedient children of our Heavenly Father; to be disciples of Jesus Christ our Lord; to rejoice in our salvation and in our new relationship with God; to be joyful in the Christian life, giving thanks to God for visible and unseen blessings; to maintain a relationship with God in prayer; to strengthen our faith with the study of God’s Word; to become men and women whom trust in God is an active experience.
We also purpose to create in our home, through teaching and example, an atmosphere where children can experience God’s love and will desire to accept God’s standards for their lives.
In relationships with our fellow man, we covenant to be just in our dealings, to be faithful in our commitments, to be exemplary in our conduct. We pledge to be kind and courteous, respectful of others and their rights, sympathetic, supportive, and peaceable. We resolve to strive for genuine humility, to be slow to take offence, and yet always ready for reconciliation.
As members of the Body of Christ, we promise to strive for unity of mind and purpose; to devote our thoughts, our will, and our energies to build and advance our church; to sustain worship, the ordinances, disciples, and doctrine; to contribute of our time, our abilities, and our finances cheerfully and regularly; to promote evangelism and the work of missions through our church.
We also pledge that when we remove from this place, we will as soon as possible unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this conventant and the principles of God’s Word.
