to know & understand (1) that pain/suff going through the grinder is part of the curriculum (core not elective) for Christians, (2) that persevering faith is the proper response when we go through suff/trials & don’t understand, (3) that we are not alone & abandoned in the midst of pain & suff even when we feel like it. (like Daniel’s friend in the midst of the furnace)
