Jericho Road Honduras
SVBC is partnered with various churches in Honduras, which are located in the following cities, towns, and villages. Take a few moments to familiarize yourself with our work there. Why not consider being a part of it!
Puerto Cortes

In this northern port city, we work closely with the Iglesia Nazareno (Nazarene Church) led by Pastor Alex Bardales. This church is the site of a Compassion project (HO309) where SVBC church members sponsor approximately 75 children. Pastor Alex and his wife Reina have three children, Dan, Abi, and Jeshua.

Water Filters: In January 2011 a team from SVBC assembled and distributed 180 water filtration systems for Compassion-sponsored children, church families, several schools and churches, in both Puerto Cortes and La Esperanza. This is an ongoing project as the filters need to be replaced every 6 to 7 months. Please consider being a part of this blessing; families are so thankful for clean drinking water! |
Thanks to the Rotary Club of St Albert for their donation of $2000 towards this water project.
La Esperanza

In this small village near Puerto Cortes, we partner with Pastor Marlon Benegas and his wife Dina. They are pastoring the local Nazarene church. This is the site of a medical clinic as well as a technical school that serves the community. SVBC has been involved in various projects in this community, including helping with the construction of the technical school, opening the medical clinic and building the pastoral home.
San Pedro Sula

In this large inland city, we work closely with Templo Esmirna (Asembleas de Dios) led by Pastor Josue Jordan. This church runs a school for the deaf community of northern Honduras. It is also the site of a Compassion project (HO321) where SVBC church members sponsor approximately 40 children. Pastor Josue and his wife Varinia have three daughters.
March 2012 house build: SVBC, in partnership with Habitat Studio & Workshop (Edmonton) and Templo Esmirna, built a home for the Rodriguez Rivera family. The family includes Teodoro (mom), Elmer (age 16), Manuel (age 14) and Lester (age 13). The house was completed, the community celebrated, and the ribbon was cut on March 10!

Santa Clara
In this “top of the mountain” village, we partner with missionaries Arturo and Suyapa. Their primary work involves running a Christian English school for the children of Santa Clara. Currently, they are running classes from pre-kinder to grade 3 with about 50 students in attendance. They have built a school and a church and are running many community development programs. They are always looking for volunteer teachers to come and spend some time with them. If you are looking for a mountain-top experience, this is the place to be!

2012 Mission house: (below left) SVBC and several churches in the USA have donated the funds to build a mission house for Arturo and Suyapa. Construction started in January!
In Memory of Blodwen Lupul: (below right) Funds donated in Boots’ memory are being used to build and furnish a classroom in Santa Clara. Construction of the classroom started in February 2012! Each year a new classroom is needed as the children graduate to the next grade. To read more about Boots and her legacy, please read this article. In Memory of Blodwin
