James 3:1-12

Have you ever heard a story about an exotic pet owner who has problems with their pet?  There was a man in England who kept 10 snakes and 12 tarantulas in his room.  Doesn’t that sound like a recipe for a good night’s sleep?  Before you shut off your light on your night table, you say goodnight to 10 pairs of living snake eyes staring at you and 12 tarantulas just over there near your bed.  Crazy.  One of the pythons got out and attacked its owner.  People buy lion and tiger cubs for pets.  But then the cubs grow up and become ferocious.  So the pet owner tries to pawn off their full grown animal on a zoo.  This happens so often that its estimated more tigers live in captivity in the world than roam wild in the whole world.  Some people get baby elephants yet don’t think through the implications when the elephant grows up.  Exotic pet owners keep wolves, camels, monkeys and even hippos for pets.  Yet so often, something goes wrong.
