Hugh Goosen

Born in Zimbabwe (formerly Rhodesia) and raised in the West of Johannesburg, South Africa, Hugh’s path to ministry began after a powerful conversion experience at age 16. His eclectic background includes seasons as a professional musician and a sales and marketing professional—experiences that richly inform his pastoral work today.

A lifelong learner, Hugh earned his BTh, MTh in Practical Theology, and PhD in Systematic Theology through the South African Theological Seminary (SATS), later joining their faculty as a lecturer, supervisor, and global Ambassador.

More recently, the Lord has given him a burden and passion for pastoral ministry, with a focus on expository preaching and teaching. He is married to Bev, and they have two French Bulldogs, Janis and Quinley, who joined them when they immigrated to Canada in April 2026 to serve SVBC.
