Creative Arts Ministry Director from 2021/Receptionist from 2019/Intern Summer 2019
Riley grew up in St. Albert, with his father, mother and sister. In 2009, his parents divorced, and he began attending high school. In this pivotal time, a friend, invited him to attend the Youth Group at Sturgeon Valley Baptist Church. Riley was an unbeliever at the time, but came along with his friend. It was at this first Friday night in January of 2010 that he encountered church. After attending many Friday nights, Wednesday Bible Studies, and eventually coming to church on Sunday mornings, Riley began searching his heart for the meaning in his life. He came to know the Lord when he was 18.
After high school came to an end, he took a year off to work and then decided to apply at Vanguard College for a degree in Theology. During this time, he met Candace, his future wife, and they began dating, and eventually married. Two daughters and a son came along in the following years with another addition to the family expected in July 2023!
After completing his degree in theology and Internship at SVBC, he took a position as Receptionist at SVBC at which time he followed close under the tutelage of then Worship Director, Sean Morton. In 2021, he accepted a position as Interim Worship Director at SVBC, and has been working hard at ensuring SVBC attendees feel the joy and presence of God each Sunday.
The purpose of the Creative Arts Ministry Director is to minister to the congregation of SVBC by overseeing the execution of all aspects of the Sunday morning service and technical ministries consistent with SVBC On Worship Document.
