A naturalist heard about a farmer who claimed that he had raised a young eagle from birth with his chickens. And he claimed that he had completely reversed its nature. Sure enough, when the naturalist went to see the bird- there it was pecking the ground with the chickens – eating grain. The farmer said, “He looks like a chicken and acts like a chicken – he is no longer an eagle even though his wingspan measures 5 ft. from tip to tip.”
So, the naturalist held up the bird and threw it mightily into the air – but the bird dropped like a stone only to begin eating the grain like the rest of the chickens. Then he climbed with the eagle in hand to the top of the barn – stretched out his wings and threw him off the roof – yelling “You are an Eagle- soar like you were meant to soar.” And the dumb bird dropped like a rock – bounced twice and then went back to eating grain with the rest of the chickens.
